Planning a trip? What about a wedding? Or How about a big event like a business conference or party? All of those things take planning and coordination. A lot of thought has to go into all the details. Will you use a travel agent or event planner? Who will you invite – who is your audience? How many people do you need to plan for? What about the invitations, designer and printer?
The same details and planning need to be used to create your website. Who are you? How do you want to represent yourself. But… also, how do you want your visitors to perceive you? Another thing to consider is structure – layout, useability and user friendly. Do you want your visitors to interact with the site, say… make a comment, answer a question, share their information with you or share with others?
A great website is built in steps and it takes time. You shouldn’t rush into it. Research, look for other websites you like and admire – especially within your own communities – you don’t want to look like someone else – you want to look like you!! I recently came across four websites in the same community using the same theme/template with no customization to make them stand out from each other – wrong message!! This made me think of this scene in the movie “Boomerang” with Eddie Murphy, John Witherspoon, and Halle Berry.
